Le Forêt Domaniale de Fontainebleau

Since I am living in the forest, why not go for a hike. A friend of mine has frequented the forests many times, so we tried out a new trail. Though it was a bit dreary, it was quite an adventure walking through the forests, filled with big rocks covered with lime green and orange moss. It is nice to breathe the chilly winter air while hiking through the woods. We find a frozen pond, and based on the presence of footprints in the snow remnants, we assume it is safe to walk on the pond. I walk slowly towards the middle and notice leaves and branches frozen inside. After a few minutes we start skating around. In all this sheer enjoyment of ice skating on the pond for what seems like a very long time, we forget where we are. Nothing matters other than evoking childhood memories of finding joy in the simplest of activities. In all this fun, we forget where we are and have the daunting challenge of finding our way back. Though my friend has a map, we are still challenged in finding our way. It is below freezing, and my fingers start to feel numb. Luckily I have signal on my iPhone and follow the blue dot back to the parking area, in what seems like hours. What an unexpected adventure.
