Why would anyone want to go to
Luxembourg ?
That is exactly why I wanted to go, figuring that I might as
well go to random countries that one wouldn’t normally think of visiting. It is
an easy 2 hour train ride from Paris into the center of Luxembourg and we were
able to see the city in the same day. The city was founded in 963 and in known
for banking, finance, and houses several EU buildings. Driving around the town,
the architecture of the buildings is noteworthy, from the Philharmonic
building, to the building near the financial center. Each one has a unique
design. Schumann, the father of the EU hails from Luxembourg. There is also an
old part of the city which includes the Casemates, an underground
military system, which was used as shelter during 2 world wars and was used many
different countries over the years. After walking around the main town square, we
head back to Paris, fascinated by the fact that I could take a field trip
within the day to a different country.
